A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder on Broadway Background
The 2014 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder is an original and hilarious musical comedy based on the 1907 novel Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal by Roy Horniman. Starring Jefferson Mays as the entire D’Ysquith family, the Broadway musical showcases the extraordinary versatility of its leading man, while proving to be an amazingly entertaining production.
After being dealt with the loss of his mother, the protagonist soon discovers that his mother was in fact a member of the wealthy D’Ysquith family. His mother was disowned due to a family disagreement and Navarro grew up poor and unaware of his affluent ancestry. His life changes considerably once it is revealed to that he is ninth in line to inherit a massive fortune. So, Monty Navarro sets out on a quest to learn of his long lost aristocratic background, only to end up murdering every single D’Ysquith relative in line before him in a series of increasingly ridiculous and amusing ways.
