Disgraced is the story of a Muslim-American lawyer and his Caucasian wife who studies Muslim art, taking place during a dinner party they have with another couple.

What's Disgraced Like?

The show is a candid and incisive look at the racial status of America, delving into our preconceptions and assumptions about race and identity. A snappy drama with catchy dialogue, the play has just four characters. Taking place in an Upper East Side apartment, the show will appeal to New York locals as well as people from around the world, due to its universal themes.

Is Disgraced Good for Kids?

Due the adult subject matter as well as strong language, the show may be inappropriate for children aged 12 and under. Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre.

Disgraced on Broadway Background

This new play by Ayad Akhtar had its New York premiere in fall 2012 at Lincoln Center’s Claire Tow Theater as part of its LCT3 new works initiative. After winning the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for the Drama, it was announced that the play will be produced on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre. The play will be directed by Kimberly Senior, who staged the original Chicago premiere as well as the Off-Broadway Lincoln Center run.The Broadway production will star Gretchen Mol (“Boardwalk Empire”) and Josh Radnor (“How I Met Your Mother”), as well as Hari Dhillon (a cast member from the London production) and Karen Pittman (a cast member from the Off-Broadway LCT3 run).
