Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a spectacular rock musical starring a male to female transsexual who has undergone a botched sex change operation. It is furthermore rooted in the history of Europe, telling the tale of a person who has lived through the fall of the Berlin Wall.
What's Hedwig and the Angry Inch Like?
There is a very small cast for a Broadway musical, only consisting of the star Hedwig, his friend and collaborator Yitzhak (a female to male transvestite), and his rock band (comprising an additional four individuals). Despite this, it is huge in scope and impact, touching on themes sprawling from European history, sexual identity and Plato’s Symposium, while it is also striking how universal such specific themes can be to the human experience. With many of his stories told through song, Hedwig evokes a great deal of sympathy without a note of pity for his amazing and tragic story of love lost and fame foregone.
Is Hedwig and the Angry Inch Good for Kids?
With its very graphic portrayal of the themes of sexuality, violence, and betrayal, as well as strong language, this show may be inappropriate for children under the age of 12. Furthermore, it is theatre policy that children under the age of 4 are not permitted into the theatre.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway Background

Hall on October 16, 2014, John Cameron Mitchell on January 18, 2015, Darren Criss ("Glee," How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying), on April 28, 2015 and Taye Diggs on July 22, 2015.
