My Love Letter to Broadway is an extremely exciting opportunity for an up close and personal encounter with the beloved singer, actress, and comedienne Kristin Chenoweth. This concert was a long time coming, however, as Chenoweth has been recording studio albums for the past 15 years. From her debut album Let Yourself Go, which was released in 2001, to her upcoming 2016 album The Art of Elegance, Chenoweth has long ago proven not only her vocal chops, but her comedic ability to hold a stage on her own. Chenoweth has delighted audiences on television with such shows as Pushing Daisies, which earned her a 2009 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, as well as Glee, for which she was nominated twice, in 2010 and 2011, for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. She also was featured on The West Wing in multiple seasons, and she co-hosted the Tony Awards ceremony in 2015.

Kristin Chenoweth: My Love Letter to Broadway on Broadway Background

This will be the first time that Chenoweth will have brought her own one-woman concert to Broadway, after many years of making a name for herself in the domain. This upcoming album is a slight diversion of genre for Chenoweth, as it is her first album of classics from the American Songbook. Kristin Chenoweth first appeared on Broadway in the 1997 production of Steel Pier, and she came to prominence after the 1999 production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, for which she earned a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance as Sally. Her fame reached new heights when she originated the role of Glinda in Wicked, which began in 2003. Starring opposite Idina Menzel as Elphaba, Chenoweth was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical, but lost to Menzel. More recently, Chenoweth appeared onstage in On the Twentieth Century opposite Peter Gallagher, for which she also earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical.
